Student Support Fund

When something gets in the way of taking part in school, the Student Support Fund gets elementary and secondary students in Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools what they need to succeed. It covers everyday basics, school-related costs, and urgent situations that come up unexpectedly. Teachers and support staff help identify those needs, so support can be put in place right away.

What matters most is how quickly that happens. When something arises, it’s addressed without delay, so students can keep showing up, taking part, and feeling included as part of their school community.

What the Student Support Fund makes possible.

Everyday essentials.

School supplies, clothing, shoes, and hygiene basics so students can arrive prepared and ready to take part.

Participation in school life.

Support for costs like field trips, band rentals, student fees, and sports so students can participate alongside their peers.

Emergency support.

Help with urgent needs such as eyewear, dental care, and other essential medical support when situations arise.

Ongoing access to essentials.

Shared resources give school staff ongoing access to items like hygiene products, school supplies, and winter wear, so staff can access what students need, when they need it.

How support reaches students.

Teachers and support staff recognize when a student needs something and submit requests to the Student Support Fund on their behalf, so support can be put in place straight away.

If something is getting in the way, parents and caregivers are encouraged to reach out to their school to access support.
