You don’t have to figure this out on your own.

Support is closer than you think.

How we help students and families.

If you’ve landed here, we want you to know one thing right away. You are not alone.

Every day, families in our community face moments where things feel a little tighter or just overwhelming. We work alongside schools to support students in quiet, practical ways so they have what they need to take part in school. That can look like food during the day, clothing or shoes, help with field trips or grad fees, or support when something unexpected comes up.

Our belief is simple. Every child deserves to feel like they belong.

More ways we support.

There are a few different ways support can show up. Each one is designed to meet students where they’re at and make sure they can take part in school life.

Student Support Fund

If school supplies, clothing, shoes, or other basics are becoming hard to manage, this fund helps make sure students have what they need to show up prepared. It can also help in urgent situations, including things like eyewear or dental care when there are no other options.

Food4Schools

If food is a concern, students can access breakfast, lunch, and snacks at school. Meals are provided in a way that feels normal and respectful, so students can eat, focus, and take part in their day without barriers.

Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards.

If graduation is coming up and you’re thinking about what comes next, there are scholarships, bursaries, and awards that can help with post-secondary costs. These recognize more than academics, including financial need, resilience, leadership, and community involvement.

How to access support.

We know that figuring out where to go, or even asking for help, can feel like a lot. If something is getting in the way, you’re not expected to navigate that on your own.

Most support is available through your school. Teachers, counsellors, and school staff are there to notice when something isn’t working and help connect students with the support they need, whether that’s food, supplies, or help covering costs.

For some opportunities, like scholarships, bursaries, and awards, students can apply directly through NLSF.

If you’re not sure where to start, begin with your school. A conversation is often all it takes to get the right support in place.
